Carbon Footprinting
Carbon footprinting is considered a “Sustainability Characteristic,” for the purposes of this framework, when there is a life cycle assessment (LCA) or product carbon footprint (PCF) calculation data, that shows a ≥10% reduction vs a conventional fossil-based product. Ideally, it will be verified or audited by an accredited third party, but this is not a requirement for inclusion. If a PCF or LCA does not show a ≥10% reduction, we will utilize this data in different ways, i.e., for support in providing customers with PCFs, for scope 3 mapping, etc. When providing PCF figures to customers, we may need to work under NDA. *

In 2022, we began working with our global supplier base to align on sustainable product characteristics and collect the data that supports these products as sustainable. The Sustainable & Natural Product Framework transparently provides the data to support each sustainability characteristic at the product level. We currently include six sustainability characteristics for our customers to filter and find sustainable products for use in their manufacturing processes and finished products.
