Acetic Acid is an acidulant, process solvent and is one of the simplest carboxylic acids. It is a weak acid; in that it is only partially dissociated in an aqueous solution. Acetic Acid is a byproduct of fermentation and is a clear, colourless liquid with a very sour taste and pungent, vinegar-like smell and has antibacterial and antifungal properties. As a biodegradable form of acid and an organic compound, acetic acid is less corrosive than inorganic acids. It is easily broken down by sunlight, making acetic acid incredibly environmentally friendly.
Chemical Manufacturing: Used in the production of chemical compounds such as acetate esters, acetic anhydride, and other organic chemicals. Textile Industry: Functions as a pH regulator and mordant in dyeing and fabric processing. Adhesives and Coatings: Acts as a solvent and reactant in the formulation of adhesives, paints, and coatings. Plastics and Polymers: Used in the production of polyvinyl acetate and cellulose acetate, both essential in the plastics industry. Water Treatment: Employed as a pH adjuster in various water treatment processes. Cleaning and Descaling: Utilized in industrial cleaning agents and descaling solutions to remove mineral deposits and corrosion.
