Native to India, Vetiver has spread widely throughout tropical regions and is now mainly cultivated in Indonesia and Haiti. The clumpy, green plant belongs to the same family of grasses such as lemongrass and citronella. Vetiver Oil, also called Khus Oil, is distilled from the vetiver plant’s roots, that are harvested between 18 months to 2 years after the plant is cultivated. The highly concentrated oil that is released is then skimmed off the top of the water. It’s used in holistic practice for its soothing, grounding capabilities. All vetiver oils share deep and rich fragrance, earthy and woody scents combined to a slightly smoky warmth.
