All prescription (Rx) and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs sold in North America are formulated with compendial ingredients like CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ PEGs. Some personal care products, in contrast, may not need to meet the same quality threshold, and could be made with industrial ingredients, like Dow’s CARBOWAX™ PEGs.

Flake PEGs
Flake PEGs are more efficient and economical to use compared to granular and powder PEGs when you need fast melting and less dust for your solid, high molecular weight PEGs. You can most likely switch from a granular or powder form to flake form if your process starts with dissolving, melting, or reacting PEG. These often occur in applications where PEG is being used as a coating or plasticizer, but other applications can use flakes as well. Qualifying the flake form of your current PEG as an additional option will give your supply chain more flexibility and make your production planning easier.
