Normal butyl acetate is a clear, colourless ester. It is found in various fruits and employs flavours with a sweet banana smell. This organic compound has a variety of uses including as a food flavouring as well as a solvent in the process of lacquer production, in polishes, inks and adhesives due to it's low volatility. Normal butyl acetate also has uses in the manufacturing of artificial leather, plastics adhesives, hardened coatings and topcoats and is also commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry.
