Caustic soda is a highly abrasive, colorless alkali which is an essential ingredient in many industrial and commercial applications. It is manufactured through the electrolysis of sodium chloride. Diaphragm grade caustic soda contains less than 1.1% sodium chloride. This 32% solution is commonly used in the manufacture of soaps, dyes, paper, petrol products and polymers. It can also be used as a heavy-duty cleaning agent acting as a strong degreaser, descaler and pH adjuster.
